AFROCUBISM IS BORN
The project that never quite happened has happened! Nick Gold, the World Circuit label owner and brainchild behind the Buena Vista Social Club, releases 'AfroCubism' in October 2010 following two shows at La Mar de Musicas & North Sea Jazz Festival. Featuring the Johny Cash of Cuba 'Eliades Ochoa' and band 'Grupo Patria', plus kora genius 'Toumani Diabate´', n'goni master 'Bassekou Kouyate', Rail Band guitarist 'Djelimady Tounkara', legendary Malian griot singer 'Kasse Mady Diabaté' and the innovatory balafon player 'Lassana Diabaté', the group tour internationally in November & December 2010.

AFRICA EXPRESS GOES TO SPAIN

Following numerous acclaimed outings in the UK, Africa and France, the movement Africa Express is set to continue the build of it's almost legendary status. Ignoring convention and embracing improvisation, over eighty musicians combine to create a headlining five hour marathon jam in Spain on Saturday August 7, at the Festa dos Mundos, Olieros, Galicia. The show, with an anticipated audience of 50,000+ people, will feature the combined talents of surprise artists from Africa, Spain, UK, USA and beyond.

FEMI KUTI TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Off the back of his World Cup Opening Cermony performance, the now iconic Femi Kuti, son of Fela, marks the 40th Anniversary of Nigerian Independence with the release of his new album in October 2010. This combines with 'Felabration', a week long celebration of Fela's life held at the Shrine in Lagos and, the Broadway show 'Fela!' arriving for a 60 date run in London starting in November.

WORLD CUP FEVER

Musicians Incorporated racks up a combined 8 billion viewers during viewing of four artists (Khaled, Femi Kuti, Vieux Farka Touré and Amadou & Mariam) who perform at the Kick Off Event with the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, Shakira etc, and then the next day at the Opening Ceremony. This was only slightly marred later by the performances of England, Nigeria and Algeria!
